Dean is a member of the LinkedIn For Good team at LinkedIn. Here he uses the LinkedIn platform to connect talent with opportunities to improve the world, at massive scale. His goal is to utilize LinkedIn's commercial products to improve the world, by their nature, but seeks to do it more directly. After a few years as research staff at Carnegie Mellon in the late 80s, Dean spent his career founding and leading Pittsburgh-based startups: mSpoke (acquired by LinkedIn), Transarc (acquired by IBM); e-Transport (acquired by Descartes); Premier Health Exchange (acquired by Medibuy); and Medebiz (merged with Moai Technologies). Dean also was at MAYA Design Group for five ears, a Pittsburgh-based interdisciplinary product design firm.
